Arts Academy Leader: Carnetta Griffin

carnettaHello! My name is Carnetta Griffin, or Ms. G as the scholars call me, and I am the Arts Academy Leader for CLC at Dawes Middle School. I have had the pleasure of working at CLC for the past three years. It has been an absolute blessing to not only see, but be part of my scholars’ growth. Along with being the Arts Academy Leader, I also co-teach our Diamondback Step Team and am the advisor for our Emerging Leaders eighth grade youth leadership group.

A little bit about myself; I am an Omaha native, but have had the pleasure of calling Lincoln my home for the past six years. I am currently earning my Masters of Arts in Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and will be graduating May 2017! I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, also from UNL, in May 2015. I enjoy learning and re-learning about world history and social justice. I have a passion for helping scholars define success for themselves and achieving their goals. Assisting scholars in navigating through not only their own identities, but identities of those around them is an important aspect I hope to help them learn and understand. Lastly, being able to foster a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all scholars is something I strive for everyday!
